In The Meantime, Enjoy My 'Work In Progress' !
This is the house in Richfield Minnesota where I lived with my family from age 0 until the fourth grade when we moved to Plymouth Minnesota. For those of you that are interested, my bedroom, that I shared with my twin brother who is fourteen months older than me, is the second window from the right. The above picture was taken in the late 1940's or early 1950's.
The colored photographs were taken by me in February 2008; quite a change in appearance of the 'old homestead' you'll have to admit.
Once we moved to Plymouth, I attended Wayzata Public Schools and graduated from Wayzata Senior High School. My twelfth grade at old W.H.S. were the hardest three years of my life.
Also, while I was a senior, I was struck by a car on the evening of February 28, 1961 while walking to school to announce a "B" Squad basketball game as the public address announcer. (My 'fondness' for a microphone came to me early in life.)
Upon my graduating from high school, I worked at the Wayzata Rexall Drug in the Colonial Square Shopping Center for about four or five years and then worked at the Qik and Ezy Grocery/Drug Store In Maple Plain; a unique new concept that really 'took off' throughout the entire country.
So much for the 'Walk Down Memory Lane'

FAMILY PORTRAIT
This family portrait was taken in about 1946. Only two copies exist; I have them both. The cute little boy on the lower left of the picture is me; the person to my left (your right) is my twin brother that is fourteen months older than me and the other child was our older brother. Both me and my brothers were all younger than our parents.
My Graduation Picture
The picture above is the former Communications Center of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department where I began working
on October 20, 1969 and continued working for many years
and attained the rank of Sergeant.

This is Anoka County Central Communications. They provide dispatch service for all of the Police and Fire Departments in Anoka County. They are what is called a 'P.S.A.P.'; or Public Safety Answering Point. I Worked Here As A Public Safety Telecommunicator And Dispatcher.

I Also Worked Here As A Public Safety Telecommunicator And Dispatcher But Didn't Like The 'Politics' Required Of Being A Full Time Employee. So I Reverted Back To Being A Part Time Employee And Just Worked During The Summer Months For A Few Summers.

APRIL 2002 - JANUARY 2004
I Went To Brown Institute of Broadcasting In 1963 And Graduated From Their Radio Broadcasting School. Thirty-Nine Years
Later, I Began A Short-Lived Career In Radio Broadcasting.
It Was An Interesting Twenty Months And Had
Some Interesting 'Twists & Turns'.
This is a picture of me (center), Maple Plain Part-time Office Jim Franklin (right) and former schoolmate Doug Barnes who was affiliated with the Peoria Civil Defense. Jim and I were sent to Peoria, Illinois to learn about how to deal with natural disasters.
This is where my career in radio broadcasting started; it's a picture of the 'ratty' main studio at KCHK Radio (1350AM) in New Prague, Minnesota. Ironically, this is also a picture of where my career in radio broadcasting also ended.
During those nearly two years, I hosted an Old Time Music Show Monday through Friday from 9AM -2PM, developed, produced and co-hosted the 'SMART SHOPPER' program, produced and co-hosted 'COACHES ROUNDTABLE' with Dick and Jeff Jonckowski.
In addition to all of that, I also did the 'engineering' for numerous sporting events and other special programming. And then, on January 5, 2004 at 2:30PM after concluding what would be my last 'on the air' shot, I received a telephone call at the station from one of the owners who told me,
YOU'RE FIRED !!
Imagine: Getting fired from a job OVER THE TELEPHONE !!
Ain't 'technology' wonderful?
Here I Am At About Three Years Old.
If You Thought I Was Cute Then,

Initially, I Was Hired Away From The Private Security Firm That Canterbury Inn 'Contracted' With For Their Hotel Security. Once Hired By Canterbury Inn And Working Directly For The Hotel, I Became Their Director Of Security As Well As One Of It's Nightly Manager(s) On Duty. (I Checking On My Dates Of Employment.)
In The Fall of 199? With Retail Sales In Their 'Winner's Night Club Seriously Sagging, I Approached The Hotel's Assistant Manager/Food & Beverage Director And Presented Him With The Idea Of My Performing An 'Oldies Show' On Wednesday Nights From 8PM Until Closing In Winner's; Hosted By Me Featuring Music From The '50's And '60's. This Idea Literally 'Caught On', Was Very Popular, Became Widely Accepted And Was An Instant Success. I Continued Doing My 'Oldies Night' Shows For The Next Six Months In Addition To Performing My Duties As The Hotel's Manager On Duty.
